Tuesday gallop report
Fairly standard gallops for the string at this time of year for the jumps horses.
Doing a couple of steady canters on the Up-the-Middle gallop were
Baby Ticker,
Big Bad Dream,
Dali Mail,
Eternally Yours,
Keyboard Gangster,
Paper Promise,
Paper Roses,
Side of the Road and
Stainsby Girl.
This is typical of the exercise as these horses improve their fitness.
Our 'work' days are Wednesday and Saturday, and possibly next week we'll start to give 2 or 3 of the more forward of the string a couple of pieces of faster work.
Just slightly behind are Danced Every Dance, The Boo Box, 'Adam', Lucarno Dancer and 'Jean' who did some road work and/or a gentle canter.
We're still hoping to give our two horses on the Flat - Princess Apollo and See My Baby Jive - a run in October, and these sprinters did a piece of faster work together.
Eternally Yours (left, Georgina) and Dali Mail (Callum)
Couple of new faces around the yard
One equine and one human!
Local Hawick man Cameron Knox has joined Dodlands Steading for the start of the 2018-19 NH Season as our yardman. You can read more about Cameron on our Stable Staff page.
Welcome on board!
Georgina Shiels has been working with us, principally as a work rider,
for the best part of a year now. Her dad, Raymond, has been training a
few pointers and horses under Rules for decades and has sent us his 8
year old handicap hurdler
Lucarno Dancer. A winner at Hexham last season, the mare last ran in
June and has been on an extended holiday at grass prior to joining us.
Look for a re-appearance after New Year.
