Our gallops
Autumn day at Dodlands
You really can see for miles!!

The close proximity of our 5 furlong uphill gallop just a short walk across the road from Dodlands Steading is ideal, both for the horses and for the morning gallop watchers.
In early 2011, we installed a Woodchip Gallop and we're delighted with the consistency and durability that this type of surface has brought.
Set into the hillside, the natural, stiff gradient of the gallop provides a perfect setting in which train horses to hone those galloping techniques. This means that there is no need put our horses under any duress, as they work willingly doing one or two intervals each morning.

And we also have our Round the Camber gallop, of about ½ mile in length, to give the string the opportunity of stretching out on grass.
In addition, there is a variety of lanes close by, which provide a safe and tranquil environment for walking and trotting our racehorses.
Whether it is gentle cantering as horses come back into training or safe surfaces for intervals of faster work, the value and benefits of this environment can be gauged by our results on the racecourse. Not just by the number of outright winners each season, but our above average place-to-runner ration and by the the stable regularly finishing in the upper quartile of NH Trainers performances as published each year by the Racing Post.
Now, you do know that statistics never lie................
