The family
Princess Apollo is the first foal of the 6 time winner Speedy Senorita, who raced 49 times at all distances ranging from 5 to 5½ furlongs. She raced mainly in the North, being trained first by Karl Burke, then John Quinn and finally for Jimmy Moffat.
She also has a filly by Doncaster Rover (born 2015), named Donny Belle in training with David Brown. Donny Belle has been placed 4 times from 8 starts, and races over a similar range of distances as her dam.
Speedy Senorita is the only progeny of Senora Wood to win. Senora Wood herself was a maiden but her siblings were very speedy horses. She is a half sister to half a dozen winners, the best being listed winner Smittenby.
About the sire
Mullionmileanhour (bay horse, born 2006) was trained by John Best. A
winner on debut as a 2yr old, he was precocious and fast enough to
run next time at Royal Ascot finishing 3rd to his stable companion
Flashmans Paper (a 100-1 shot!) in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes.
Mullionmileanhour missed the whole of the remainder of the season,
and all of his next but did re-appear on the racecourse as a 4yr
old. He finished 3rd in his first race, again a listed event, before
running the race of his life when 2nd, beaten a short head, in
another listed race over Newmarket's 6f to Equiano (now a UK based
renowned sire of sprinters).
Retired to stud in 2011 after that 4yr old campaign, as a sire,
Mullionmileanhour hasn't reached the same heights as Equiano, but
has sired over a dozen winner on the flat at trips up to 1 mile.
The best of his progeny are Roll on Rory, a multiple winner on the
flat, and Mullionheir, another multiple winner of 6 races at up to 1
mile.
Mullionmileanhour's half brother Adaay, by Kodiac, is standing at
Whitsbury Manor, having won a couple of Group 2s over 6 & 7
furlongs.
