Another winner at Ayr
Well, we knew we had a good chance of a follow up winner at Ayr today, but if pushed we would acknowledge that we believed Leith Walk was the best fancied of our trio. As it turned out, Leith Walk was not at her best in her handicap hurdle, weakening out of contention approaching 3 out.
King Kalium was the victor for the delighted members of the Potassium Partnership - indeed mark that down as successful owner/breeders as 'King' is the first produce of their mare Hannah Park. It seemed beforehand that whoever beat odds-on shot Rowan Road would win, and so it proved. Callum, on a high after a winning riding on Shadow Boxer yesterday rode the gelding with a great deal of confidence, racing prominently and letting the horse stride out for home after 5 out. A blunder at the last had our hearts in our mouths, but the 'King' recovered to cross the line with 3 lengths to spare.
Great thrills!
Mia Matriarch jumped and ran well for a long way in the same race, before weakening 2 out and pulling up before the last. She'll be suited by better ground.

Footnote - it's always good to receive emails, and we received a nice one from
Potassium Partnership member Rory Bannerman.
Here is an edited extract :
Donald, Well done.
I started this syndicate more than twelve years ago and that is our
second ever winner!
It has been a long haul and plenty of thoughts of 'is it worth it' but
to see the horse win today was just fabulous.
May I thank you and Callum (for an excellent ride) and Ryan (for all the great schooling), it really was dream come true.
Rory
Your welcome Rory, many thanks for dropping us a note.
Nodda High Kid runs at Musselburgh tomorrow
Indeed he does, in the 2nd division of the 2m 4f novice hurdle, facing 8 rivals. As always (it seems) The Dapper Don introduces an ex-Irish pointer/bumper horse with immense promise (Abbey Storm) who along with Michael Smith's Somerset Island will present fair opposition.
We think a lot of our home-bred gelding, who is returning to the scene of his bumper win just over a year ago. Fingers crossed for a competitive run, and the in-form Callum Whillans takes the ride.
