The Boo Box runs at Carlisle tomorrow (Monday)
The Boo Box, with Callum in the saddle, makes his hurdling debut
tomorrow at Carlisle in the 2m 3½f novices' hurdle.
There's been a little bit of rain around in the last few days and
Carlisle's advance going of 'soft, good to soft places' looks just about
ideal for winter jumping.
This is a hot event, with a trio of Irish runners, a couple of
recruits from the Irish Pointing field plus several who have shown very
promising hurdling form this season. Sue Smith's Hill Sixteen will be
suited by the return to soft ground.
But the stand-out promising hurdler is from Neil Mulholland's yard in
the shape of smart stayer on the Flat, and Cesarewitch fourth, Vis a Vis
(Richard Johnson takes the ride). Best flat form is on a sound surface,
but a fascinating horse on hurdling debut nonetheless.
Given the shape of this race, The Boo Box will be one of the outsiders and we'd look for him to have a nice round of jumping, and show promise for the future.
Enthusiastic members of Denholm Park Racing will be there to support the gelding, and trust that they have an enjoyable day.

Weekend gallop news
Saturday and first lot were out at the crack of dawn as per usual with Leah, Rebecca,
Laura and Pinkie present and correct joining Callum for the morning
exercise.
About half the string are doing steady canters for the next few days -
this was explained in Friday's News Item
- so these horses
just came up the gallop the once.
Stainsby Girl (Pinkie) and
Honda Fifty (Callum) did a couple of pieces of
work though, and went at a fair pace second time up. We're looking at Carlisle
(week on Sunday) and Ayr (the following day) for runs for these two
bumper horses.
Baby Ticker,
Paper Roses and
Side of the Road joined in first time up.
And there were five horses in Lot 2 as well.
Just coming the once up were Eternally Yours,
Danced Every Dance and
Lucarno Dancer but
The Boo Box and
Big Bad Dream completed a nice piece
of faster work second time up.
As mentioned above, The Boo Box heads to Carlisle tomorrow and Big Bad
Dream may run at either Carlisle or Ayr a week later.

We've been introducing a young filly to the gallops in the last couple of weeks, and Lot 3 contained a daughter of Yeats (ridden by Callum). She's still quite green but seems to be enjoying mixing it with her stablemates each morning. Also in Lot 3 doing a couple of spins 'Up-the-Middle' were Dali Mail, Onecallaway and Paper Promise.
A bit windy on the microphone, but here's a video of Lot 3
And that left Bushmill Boy and Keyboard Gangster to close off the morning with gentle exercise in the nearby lanes.
