A Rainy Day in Dodlands
Officially autumn starts on 22nd September, but this morning at Dodlands Steading there was a distinct summer-has-ended feel in the air as rain poured down on our string at morning exercise. It wasn't cold, but not as warm as you'd like........
The jumpers are progressing well and accompanying Wor Lass in having two spins on the Up-the-Middle gallop were Side of the Road, 'Spud' and 'Sid'.
Stepping up on their work, joining
Borders Dream in working once on
the gallop were Eternally
Yours, Hartforth,
Keyboard Gangster,
Night Comes In,
Paper Promise and 'Reeva'.
Completing their spell of roadwork were Paper Roses and
Tomahawk Wood, while
Shades of Midnight
and Dali Mail were in light
exercise.
The final few horses are coming back in from grass tomorrow and it'll be nice to see Baby Ticker, Big Bad Dream and 'Sting' in the yard again. The Team were busy preparing their boxes this afternoon, and the blacksmith will visit on Monday to apply their workshoes.
Night Comes In (Callum) and Eternally Yours (Kingy) lead Paper Promise (Pinky, hidden)
Wor Lass entered for Newcastle on Tuesday
Les Dodds' gallant mare will have a jaunt down the road to Newcastle (their Tapeta track) on Tuesday evening to contest a Class 5 race with the title '42nd Street Classic Sausage Fish & Chips Fillies' Handicap'. Over an extended 1m 4f, she runs off the same mark as when runner up at Musselburgh last week.
The trip may just be that little bit sharp for Wor Lass, but the race title sounds just about right for The Trainer and Les!
