Today's runners at Carlisle
Couple of runners from Dodlands Steading are making their autumn seasonal debut at Carlisle today, where the advance going is described as soft. The course is still using the flat circuit for hurdles and bumpers, and this presents more of an emphasis on stamina than the new hurdles course which was introduced last year.
In theory, this should suit our mare Mini the Minx, for whom no race could be described as too short, in that she stays forever.....longer than the mother-in-law, longer than a week in jail, longer than...well, you get the drift!
Anyway, she goes in the opening 2½m handicap hurdle, and we expect her to come on for the run.
At the other end of the card, Yinfortheroad makes his fourth appearance
in a bumper. This is probably quite a competitive race with any number
of horses who have Irish Point experience. There seems to be quite an
influx at present of ex-Irish pointers with UK stables and there's a
quartet here, one each from Lucinda, The Dapper Don, Barry M and
Easterby.
Our gelding has improved in looks during the summer, and we hope this
can also be reflected in his racing.
He's a likeable sort, and look out for one of his family (Ballyclough)
running earlier in the card.
Good luck to Muzza & Fosso, enjoy the day lads, and also to Callum who comes in for the ride on both horses.
