The family

The dam Gypsy Run was placed in a Uttoxeter bumper, and later finished 4th in a novice hurdle.
Mini the Minx's full sister, Fairwood Melody, finished 4th in a Tramore maiden hurdle in August 08.

The 2nd dam, the Deep Run mare Money Run won 3 races over jumps and has bred 3 winners, the best of which was the multiple winner and Grade 3 placed Monnaie Forte.

From the family of Gunner Welburn, and Celtic Giant.

About the sire

The unraced Accordion (bay horse, born 1986) was from the first crop of Sadler’s Wells, as indeed was fellow prominent NH sire Old Vic.
He was retired to Stud in 1990, after suffering an injury which prevented him racing.

Accordion has been a leading jumps sire for several years, with numerous high class performers such as Alberta’s Run and Flagship Uberalles.
He died in 2007, but his influence will still be felt for a few years yet.

Form Summary

Mini the Minx was bought by Donald as a yearling at Doncaster Bloodstock Sales in January 2007.
Broken in during Spring of 2009, she took everything in her stride when joining the stable for schooling work in May of that year, and working upsides on the Up the Middle gallop.
She made her debut in a bumper at Kelso in February 2010, running very green until turning into the home straight. She really took off then, staying on nicely up the hill passing several horses along the way finishing 7th of 14. She confirmed that promise, and racing style, a couple of months later at the same venue. On a sounder surface, she was flat out most of the way, but again stayed on over the last couple of furlongs to finish 6th of 13. That turned out to be quite a remarkable bumper, in that the first 5 home have now all won races.
Clearly her profile was that off a stayer, so we resumed Mini's bumper career at Carlisle (going : soft) in March 2011, when she finished like a train up that hill in third in another bumper.
In the 2011-12 season, Mini the Minx had a few niggles, so we had to ease back on her training on a couple of occasions. However, she did run a fine race at Carlisle in December to finish 3rd in a novice hurdle in conditions described as heavy.

Last season, Mini the Minx did well when she encountered soft ground and a true test of stamina. She finished 2nd on two occasions over staying trips at Newcastle and Wetherby.
We still feel she can win a small race over hurdles when the conditions are testing.
