Summing up recent 'at the races'
We'll start off our brief review with Hawaii Klass who finished fourth in a 3m handicap chase at Carlisle last Thursday. Apart from missing one in front of the stands around the halfway mark, Star Racing's gelding jumped well. Being a medum sized sort, we reckon he'll be suited by a sounder surface but ihs first win over fences may not be too far away, possibly at around 2m 4f.
If you managed to catch a review of Mini the Minx's race at
Newcastle on Friday, you can only come away with one conclusion - she
must surely be suited by 2 miles.
No - only joking!
The mare will have a few weeks break, and be aimed at a staying handicap
hurdle with a set of blinkers fitted for the first time. If they work as
they do mostly, Callum will be thankful.
Unfortunately, our recent Ayr winner King Kalium was pulled up having bled from the nose in the concluding 2m handicap hurdle. We'll try our usual blend of (legal!) lotions and potions, but it's come at an unlucky time in this 7yr old's career.

Looking ahead this week
Well, we've kinda missed the boat as the weather has put paid to a couple of fixtures last week when we thought we had good chances - Sedgefield in particular - only for this week's fixtures not to include any suitable races.
That said, Leith Walk is entered at Kelso on Thursday, and although we don't have any runners at Musselburgh on Wednesday, Brother Ali and ourselves intend to take a batch of horses for a racecourse gallop after the last. So if you're hanging around with nothing better to do, have a look out for us. Not quite your Nicholls or Nicky pre-Cheltenham gallop, but it'll give a chance to get something different into a couple of our unraced geldings.
