And onto Carlisle on Sunday
The advance going is soft at Carlisle on Sunday where we send 3 runners down the A7 from Dodlands Steading.
We start things off with
Enemy At
The Gate in the first, Divsion I of the 2m 4f novice hurdle at 11.50
am (remember, Spring forward, Fall back).
There are half a dozen at the head of the market that look promising
types for the season ahead. Most of that potential is based upon
eye-catching performances in bumpers or Point-to-Points so maybe
Lucinda's Green Vault will put his hurdling experience to best use.
Enemy At The Gate has been schooled quite recently so we hope he can
show this ability on the racecourse as he was quite novicey on his sole
hurdles outing back in May. We'd be looking for a nice run here but
whether he's up to being able to challenge the principals is another
matter.
Billy Garrity comes in for the ride and best of luck to Tony and his
mates.
Enemy At The Gate (Garry)
Probably our best chance of a winner on the day comes with
Honda Fifty in the 2m 1f
handicap hurdle at 1.25. He's not the biggest in stature but does
possess a fair amount of ability as his 3 second place finishes in
bumpers can testify.
He's ben working well at home so we think he should be ready to do
himself justice first time out.
Of the opposition (10 run) :
Wor Verge was just held last time over course and distance but he's up
4lb for that and is fairly well exposed so may just find 2 or 3 too
good. On the back of 4 and 5 winners respectively yesterday, McCain and
Hughes will fancy their chances with Donladd who was generally
progressive last season.
Captian Moirette was a fairly useful hurdler for Sue Smith at his best and makes his debut for Jimmy Moffat. He's tumbled down the handicap and would win this comfortably on his old form.
Craig Nichol rides, and he's also in the saddle of our third runner on
the day - Eternally Yours
in the Class 2 handicap over 2m 4f at 2.35.
She'll be suited by the softening surface and gets in here off bottom
weight. She's another that has been working well at home so may have an
each way chance.
Just 9 runners but this is a very competitive race with the progressive Tommy's Oscar most likely to go well.
Eternally Yours (Georgina) leads this gallop with Honda Fifty (Laura) held up in rear
