Sedgefield reflections
We are very sad to report that our 9 year old mare
Lucarno Dancer lost her
life during her race at Sedgefield, on Tuesday afternoon.
Raymond Shiels' horse was
involved in an incident at the 5th fence, which left her fatally
injured.
At Dodlands, we try to treat those two great imposters, triumph and
disaster, in equal measure but such events can tame the perfect storm.
It was only this season that owner Raymond Shiels sent along his mare to
be trained at Dodlands and she quickly settled in, and had run very well
in her two races - close second on stable debut followed up with a win
at Catterick in December.
Overall, she won two races in her career and will be very much missed by Raymond and Georgina, and the rest of the staff here at Dodlands Steading.
