Keyboard Gangster on seasonal debut at Haydock tomorrow (Saturday)

Keyboard Gangster wouldn't be Keyboard Gangster if his training programme wasn't interrupted by a minor issue or two. Thus nothing changes.
We had hoped to run our Gamut gelding before now but having said that the ground would probably have delayed a seasonal debut in any case.
So, it's soft ground at Haydock tomorrow and he runs in the Class 3 handicap hurdle (a Challenger Series Qualifier) over just short of 2 miles. This race  opens the card at 11.50.

Keyboard Gangster won a nice Class 2 handicap at Kelso in April and has been raised 6lb as a consequence. He was progressive last season but it is asking a bit much of our lad to be primed at this stage of the season. We've done as much as possible at home but no doubt he'll need this race.

There are 9 runners in the field and our racing preview usually attempts to highlight the main danger to any of our runners. Well, in this case there are 8 of them and none can be ruled out. At the time of writing Mischievous Max is the outsider (~33's) but this ex Joseph O'Brien inmate has form which would put him in the frame, and he showed improvement on his second run for current yard (Harriet Bethell).

So, 9/2 the field but maybe the one to note is the Ian Williams trained Speed Company, who showed useful form on the flat on soft and could be thrown in off OR118.

While Eternally Yours heads down to Newcastle

Also competing in a Challenger Series Qualifier, Eternally Yours runs in the 2m 4½f mares handicap hurdle at Newcastle tomorrow.

Several of her opponents have shown their best form over much further - Rivabodiva, Ebony Rose, Dark Sunset all fall into this category - and they will be suited by a good test of stamina.
Phil Kirby's Shine Baby Shine is taking a drop in class here, and having been dropped 5lb could well be involved in the finish.
Nicky Richard's Kelso bumper winner Ruby Two makes her handicap debut, and can be expected to improve on her hurdles form to date.

Hardy perennial Beyondtemptation won this race last year (races off only 1lb higher mark), and she can be expected to set the pace although yet to strike form this season.

It's never easy when you get raised 6lb for finishing second but such is life for Eternally Yours. She's in fine form at home though and with Callum down at Haydock, Craig Nichol will be in the saddle. Craig has been popping into the yard a couple of mornings each week recently and he schooled the mare over a couple of hurdles yesterday.
We hope Eternally Yours can give a good account of herself tomorrow and go close.
