Wor Lass complete a season's double
Les Dodds' gallant mare Wor
Lass, again ridden superbly by Rachel Richardson, followed up her
recent Musselburgh success by making all yesterday at Ayr to complete a
quick fire double.
Rachel deserves at least as many plaudits as Wor Lass, for she set off
in front, setting a steady pace but keeping enough in hand that when
challenged by the favourite 2f out, her mount battled on gamely to win
by a short head.
This was the eleventh victory of Wor Lass' career, and to be honest we were feeling a bit of pressure* from Les at the start of the season as we were the only one of her recent trainer not to record a victory for the mare.

Nice run from Princess Apollo too.
And Wor Lass wasn't the only filly (well, she was once) from our yard to put in a pleasing performance yesterday. Princess Apollo was seeing a racecourse for only the 3rd time, but the 4yr old raced prominently for most of the race, and only tired entering the final furlong of the 6f contest. She finished 7th of 13 in the end, and again this was a step in the right direction.
Look forward to next Tuesday when she should get a handicap mark, which will allow her to be more competitive in races.
