Success on the flat for Les & Garry!!!
Maybe Wor Lass isn't trained at Dodlands (actually by Susan Corbett
at Otterburn, just across the Scottish Border) but we're delighted by
her win all the same at Musselburgh on Friday evening.
Ridden by Garry, for owner-breeder Les Dodds, a long-time friend of the
stable - such moments don't come much sweeter.
Wor Lass had won 6 times in a row last season over staying
trips, and having again won at Newcastle last Monday, raced off OR75 here
which is a new highest wining mark for the horse. There was not a moments worry for her connections though,
and Garry had the mare handily placed just behind the leading pair and put the race to bed over 2f from home, to win pretty much
unchallenged.
This was a stylish ride from Garry who, in addition to his work with the team at Dodlands during the NH Season, enjoys race-riding on the level and is used mainly by trainers in southern Scotland and the north of England.
Well done Garry, and congratulations to Les!

Excitement mounting for the new season
Each week during August, we've brought 2 or 3 horses from the string
back in from summer grass from various outposts across the Scottish
Borders.
See the Horses
in Training page, but apart from 3 recent sales purchases who are
being educated, all the horses are in the yard. Not all are on the
gallops, as we do like to make use of the quiet, safe lanes nearby to
put some road work into the legs.
But, with the fitness and wellbeing of the string to the fore, these are exciting times for all connected to the yard although it may be well into October before we have our next runner. And, let's hope for a bit of give in the ground as well.......
