Midweek update
Hartforth (Sarah) leads Dali Mail (Garry)
As the photo above shows, it was a pretty misty morning at Dodlands
yesterday, although the sun did pop through the clouds for the later
lots.
A couple of the horses were having an easy few days, but here's a
little news on those that were on the gallops
Work is being stepped up a little on
Dali Mail, ahead of a target
bumper debut mid to end of February. Garry worked the Satri gelding 3
times on the Up-the-Middle woodchip gallop, and he'll work in such a
fashion each Wednesday and Saturday prior to his run.
Side of the Road has
come out of her Musselburgh race in fine fettle, and this is showing in
her work, with the lads reporting that she is coming along nicely.
She came up twice. A mares' bumper at Wetherby towards the end of
February is one possible target and then we'll start to school her over
hurdles.
Also doing 2 spins on the gallops were
Snapping Turtle (who is
entered at Sedgefield on Monday), and
Night Comes In, another
unraced gelding who is being prepped for a bumper debut towards the end
of February.
Having a slightly easier time, being fit horses, and just galloping once on the woodchip were Shades of Midnight (dropped 3lb by the handicapper after his run on Saturday), Tomahawk Wood (up 7lb for his Ayr win) and Baby Ticker (unchanged by the handicapper following Sunday's Sedgefield escapade - er, are you sure about this? - Ed)
Bollin Julie also had a spin on the woodchip, and her next engagement will probably be at Sedgefield a week on Sunday. Let's hope they've taken up our suggestion to re-site the paddock by then................
Finally, just out for some roadwork on the nearby lanes were Paper Roses and Big Bad Dream, who has come out of his Ayr bumper 3rd in excellent shape, literally banging his stable door down during feeding time on Tuesday morning.
A couple of geldings who'll be on the racecourse soon - Night Comes In
