Tomahawk Wood makes his chasing bow tomorrow
The gelding has schooled well over fences, but I've yet to read anything to the contrary about a chasing debutant from any stable.
Tomahawk Wood starts off his chasing career in a novice handicap chase at Newcastle (he's a course winner) over an extended 2m 4f tomorrow. He carries his hurdling mark (OR 90) into this race, and it's a nice place to start.
Bollin Julie at Hexham today
The grueling 3m handicap hurdle was attritional, there's just no other
word for it. Only 5 finishers (mostly very tired) of the thirteen runners
and having jumped well just in behind the leading group, race fitness
started to tell 3 out and Callum decided to pull up approaching the last
flight.
This was Bollin Julie's
first run for 18 months, and we'd expect she'll need a few days to
recover but another run in about a month's time would seem appropriate
but under less testing conditions.
