Round up
Weekend gallops
I guess with the whole of Britain under water, we shouldn't complain about the drab and miserable weather in Hawick during the last few days. Saturday was the better of the weekend, and all of the string that were due to be galloped managed at least once.
Shadow Boxer and Snapping Turtle will be entered in handicap chases at Newcastle next Saturday, and both worked well in their respective pieces of work.
The relevant forms have been sent off to Weatherbys and the geldings Yo La Tengo and Allegheny Valley are pencilled in for debuts in bumpers in December and January respectively. Both are pictured below finishing nicely at the top of the Up the Middle gallop today.

Urggh part 2 - nasty kicks
The hazard of working with horses is that is it can occasionally be painful, as our young
stable lad Ross Gillan found out recently. A sequence of events
involving schooling sessions, a loose horse and a regular morning gallop
group ended when Ross received a kick on the leg from an unnamed member
of the string.
Just to be on the safe side, Ross paid a visit to Borders General who
confirmed that there was nothing broken, and he should recover in about
7-10 days time.
The unlucky one - Ross Gillan
Ross can count himself unlucky as we are sure that Sam Patch was not aiming at any human when lashing out during the commotion. (On darn, we've outted the culprit).
Anyway, get well soon Ross, and we hope to see you back next weekend.
