Mini the Minx runner up at Wetherby
There is no doubt that our mare
Mini the Minx is a dour
stayer and can be a hard ride, and so it proved at Wetherby today on
both counts. She had to be cajoled along for most of the first circuit
in the 3m 1f handicap hurdle, but responded to Callum's urgings, even
coming back travelling nicely on the bit as she joined the leaders in
setting out away from the stands for the second time.
4 out, and now jumping well, Mini the Minx was one of the three horses
(of 15 starters) still in with a chance, with Callum pushing and
driving the mare for all he was worth. She responded well to his
urgings, staying on but failing by just over a length, beaten into
second place by Wayward Princess.
Footnote : Unfortunately the Wetherby Stewards deemed Callum's efforts had broached the rules and he received a 9 day ban
