19th October news

Flat racing summary from earlier this week

Racing comes around so quickly when you're enjoying yourself.

On Monday, Pallas Lord had an outing over 7 furlongs at Musselburgh where he ran a fair enough race but was outpaced over this trip. He was 7th of 9 beaten just over 8 lengths.
He'll be aimed at that £1m ARC All Weather Bonus Scheme held across their owned tracks Southwell, Wolverhampton, Lingfield Park & Newcastle.

On Tuesday evening at Newcastle, also over 7 furlongs, See My Baby Jive bumped into one (25s to 4-1 fav) when finishing a 5 length runner up to the Linda Perratt trained The Caltonian who returned to best form for the application of both first-time blinkers and er, cash.
Since starting the season off in June, See My Baby Jive has enjoyed a very fine season, winning 3 times and rarely out of the first 4. This run was up with her best and it's now well into October!

Enemy At The Gate on seasonal debut at Carlisle Thursday

Carlisle 19th October : 4.10 pm 2m 1f (0-105) handicap hurdle

The advanced going report for Carlisle on Thursday is good to soft (hurdles, on the course used during the summer for the flat) and good (chase). The overnight weather forecast is horrendous with heavy rain in incessant quantities due to fall from about 10pm Wednesday through to Thursday afternoon.

So, heavy going on the hurdles track at the very least.

Enemy At The Gate had probably had enough for the season - having returned from a 15 month absence - when 3rd on his final outing over 2m 4f at Newcastle in April. The ground may have been a bit lively for him too that day.
He acts on heavy ground and will probably stay 3 miles in time but this race will give us a good guide as to where we are with him.
Henry Brooke rides and best of luck to Tony and his cohorts in The Adbrokes Partnership.

As long as Kilbrainy doesn't experience the 'bounce' he will take a lot of beating, being unpenalised for winning a 2m 5f handicap hurdle at Kelso 10 days ago.

Lucinda's Caldwell & Moffat/Charlotte's Vocal Duke may be the first in line to benefit from any lapse by Kilbrainy.
