So Many Roads in the opener at Ayr on Monday
Ayr 24th February : 2.25 pm 3m 0-110 Handicap Chase (Class 4)
So Many Roads looks to improve upon his debut run over the larger obstacles - a 4th place over 2m 3f at Wetherby - in the first race on Ayr's Monday card. It is hoped the extra 4f will suit our gelding but this is a step up in class for the horse into a Class 4 event, his previous 2 runs this season coming in Class 5 races.
Lucinda runs a couple in this, and her Destiny Is All would prove hard to beat if reproducing the form he showed when winning over course and distance last October. The other Arlary participant is Ballydisco who is not certain to be suited by the advanced going conditions of soft.
Gary Rutherford's Don Brocco impressed with a clear cut victory at Carlisle at the start of the month over 3 miles, and may not be hindered by an 8lb rise.
Skyhill, a 9 time winning chaser, may be in the veteran stage of his career but won a staying chase at Kelso in December.
But perhaps the biggest danger is the Coltherd's Breeze of Wind who has put together a fine run of form since joining the stable in October '23 (just once out of the first 4). He's back on his winning mark (OR103) for the first time since a Hexham success in May.
Regular rider Craig Nichol is in the saddle for The Wellfed Boys, and we hope everyone enjoys the day.
