Not a day to remember at Musselburgh
Both our runners finished well down the field on Sunday at Musselburgh.
So Many Roads
travelled and jumped well to about 3 out in the staying handicap hurdle
but found nil when asked for an effort and weakened over the last. Not
the first time he's done this though. Having worked all over the top of
his stable companions in recent weeks, we thought a tongue-tie might help
him get home.
But there is clearly something amiss, his runs showing all the signals
of potential wind issues. So, this'll need to be resolved and he may not
appear again until next season.
To say the start of the 2m 4f handicap hurdle was unsatisfactory
would be quite an understatement.
Subsequent non-runner Sanusoke had dug his heels in and was not showing
any inclination to join the others in lining up at the start, and the
jockeys were told to wait. Having received the signal to go without, the starter
promptly dropped his flag which left our
Eden Mill caught on his heels, losing several lengths
in the process.
He normally races prominently but was stone last for most of the race
and was unable to make any progress towards the front.
Just put a line through this race, then.
Can Lord complete a hat-trick?
Newcastle 20th February : 5.30 pm 1m 0-60 handicap (Class 6)
In a rich vein of form, and off a 1lb lower mark on official
ratings since winning over 7 furlongs here on 13th February, Pallas Lord
tries to record 3-in-a-row wins at Newcastle on Tuesday evening - or late
afternoon if you prefer.
Pop Favourite snuck up the inner to defeat our lad in late January here,
and if given a similar opening could prove dangerous.
Regular adversary Odd Socks Havana lines up again, and Rebecca's charge
has a 6lb pull for a 1 length defeat over c&d on 10th February. So.....
Jason Hart gets on well with Pallas Lord, so best of luck to him and the Pallas Lord gang.
