Nights In Venice runs at Carlisle today
Carlisle 17th February : 4.30 pm 2m 4f 0-110 Handicap Chase (Class 4)
Nights In Venice ran a nice enough race here a couple of weeks ago when 3rd of 15. That race was over 3 miles and today he drop back in trip which should be favourable. On the downside, this is a slight step up in class, the going (good to soft) is a wee bit faster than ideal and this is a competitive field.
A mixture of young (5-6 yr olds) lightly raced chasers with progressive profiles and experienced handicappers looking to bounce back after a below par recent run or two.
Tommy Combats, Diamond Dice, Catch Catchfire and Kuzco all fall into
the former category with perhaps Jonjo's Diamond Dice having the most
eye caching profile.
But for a relatively experienced chaser, Lucinda's Indian Louis is still
improving and whilst his last run in a Class 2 handicap at Musselburgh
has a bit of 'tilting at windmills' about it, this subsequent drop in
class makes him a very dangerous opponent. Probably the one to beat.
We could run our best race of the season and still not make the frame!
Best to Craig Nichol in the saddle and we hope the Legends In Disguise group enjoy the day.
