One runner at Carlisle on Sunday

A few runners from the yard this past week, and the Dodlands' round-up has been held over to Monday to take in today runner at Carlisle. So keep you're eyes peeled for the latest update from the yard.

Outside of listed status, you'd be hard pressed to find such a tough novice hurdle as the one that opens Carlisle's excellent Sunday card - Colin Parker Memorial Chase day. The going will be soft for this meeting, and 8 are intended to go to post at 12.50 for this 2m 4f event.
8 runners but 6 of these have already won a race, be it a Bumper, a Point-to-Point or indeed a Point-to-Point bumper.

Other than the opponents (!), there's a lot of positives for So Many Roads  - 2m 4f, soft ground and the more galloping nature of Carlisle's outer hurdles' course. Got to start the season somewhere as The Trainer explained to The Wellfed Boys - before adding that the lunch will be good at the very least.

So what of the main contenders? Well all of them, as even the other 'maiden' in the field - Greenall's Horacio's Apple - has eye-catching bumper form from last season. he may well be in contention 2 out.
Grove Road's bumper success at Sedgefield in December came on the back of an Irish Point 3rd and the first four home in that race have now won 7 races Under Rules. Solid form.
Jonjo's Cedar Row is the Pt-Pt Flat Race winner mentioned above, but he may have the most to find from the batch that have previously tasted success.
Skelton's The King of Ryhope has been off for nearly 2 years since his sole Pointing success on debut but that wont represent a problem to his powerhouse yard. Strong NH breeding on show too.
Regarde represents the Snowden / Sheehan combo and has solid Point form, easily winning his last race in that sphere before being sold for £90k at Aintree's National sale. The 3rd horse in that race (Snipe) finished 2nd in a very good novice hurdle at Hexham earlier this month. He could be the one here.
Rock On Cowboy finished behind Regarde in one of those Irish Points while George Bewley's Glenavaddra's Point form doesn't quite seem up to the level of others here but does look a promising sort.

So Many Roads may not be as forward as others in the field today but we do like him and hope he can continue to show promise in this race. Craig Nichol takes the ride.
Best of luck to The Wellfed Boys!
