Musselburgh Friday
It's Go North Racing finals weekend with the Series coming to a
conclusion in several races held at Northern venues over the following
three.
And the weekend starts on Friday at Musselburgh.
Shoeshine Boy is our runner
in the 3rd of 4 finals to be held on the day each with £30,000 added in
prize money principally for horses rated 0-120, trained in the north. A
couple of outliers as usual which seems to defeat the purpose, but there
you go.
The Brindizi Breeze Final over 3 miles at 3pm is shaping up to be a
ultra competitive affair. 14 runners, on good to soft but with a drying
wind this may ride a bit faster on this East Lothian coastal course.
Most of the runners have shown a preference for soft / heavy conditions
underfoot, so the ones that have form on slightly faster come to the
fore. Scobie's Lastofthecosmics is a standing dish here and won over c&d
last time. He acts on a sound surface, is in form but may be a bit
exposed to some of the more progressive types here.
Top weight Crossing The Bar certainly falls into that category and his
win last time at Plumpton (3m 1f, good) is the best recent form on show.
Travelling from deepest Wiltshire......
Jennie Candlish's Bridge Road is another consistent, in-form horse who
looks sure to run well but may be vulnerable to improving types.
We could go on but seriously a case can be made for each and every
runner.
Shoeshine Boy would hold an each way chance (especially if betting
with 5 places) if he acts on the course, and that this race hasn't come
too soon after his race at Hexham 8 days ago. He'll certainly strip
fitter.
Craig takes the ride once again and best of luck to the Mousetrap Racing
lads!
