Saturday Morning gallops

An irregular feature these days.

But, several owners had appeared during the morning and made their way up to the gallops. A dreich dark but mild (-ish) start to the day which was nevertheless enlivened by the enthusiastic chatter among the younger members of the team. So, a few out of focus pictures seemed the least we could do..............

'Mouse' Young made an unexpected appearance, so much so that he missed his Shoeshine Boy in Lot 1 - although just how much he, or anyone, could see at 7.30 am is up for debate. It was dark!

Lot 1

• Bollin Matilda (Garry) & Eden Mill (Laura) put in a nice piece of work ahead of Ayr race on Monday. Or so we're told......
• Shoeshine Boy & Nights In Venice also did a a couple of pieces of normal exercise. No entries in the next week but look out for the following week. Both are in good form though.

Lot 2

A bit more sedate exercise from this group, twice Up-the Middle nonetheless. Representatives of Mousetrap Racing, The Wellfed Boys and Pallas Lord were in attendance.

• Cowboy Cooper (Laura) and Eternally Yours exercised together
• Both Barrels (Rhae) and Gie It Laldy (Garry) followed
• Our Newcastle AW horse, Pallas Lord (Shay) brought up the rear. He ran well when a close 4th over 7f earlier in the week and holds a couple of entries in the next few days. Will be suited by the return to further. Not to be missed.

Cowboy Cooper & Eternally Yours lead Both Barrels, Gie It Laldy with Pallas Lord in rear

A couple of our youngsters have arrived back in the yard, with our blacksmith booked for a visit on Monday. Several others will gradually drip feed back in the next few weeks and the more forward will be looking at a bumper run in the back-end.

Lot 3

And then came the rain!
The by this time stiff Wellfed Boys were joined by the free-moving Ron & Eileen Smith in place to pick out their So Many Roads & home-bred Ellistrin Star respectively through the mist and rain.

• Enemy At The Gate (Callum) was back on the gallops with nice, cold legs for a couple of spins after his comeback run at Ayr on Monday
• The Houxty sisters Maid of Houxty & Houxty Reiver came up together twice
• So Many Roads had been a wee bit quiet after his win on Monday but Garry reported that he was back to his mischievous self......

Maid of Houxty is followed by Ellistrin Star (Shay) & So Many Roads (Garry)
