Carlisle Monday with Ellistrin Star

Ellistrin Star (Craig Nichol) returns to the racecourse for her second race over hurdles when lining up for the Mares Novices' Hurdle at Carlisle (2.45pm) over an extended 2m 3f.
The advent of increased prizes in the GBB NH Scheme for Mares is a fine initiative but it does mean that fancied horses from Southern yards will travel any distance to compete and pick up a £20k bonus in races such as this.
And so, O'Brien sends up the Listed Placed odds-on shot Poetic Music, and along with couple of above average mares (Bents Hollow and Ebonello) makes this race shape as one with a wee bit of quality.

Ellistrin Star is a sweet filly but hasn't really shown that much on the track so far (her future would be in handicaps) but we can hope she shows a bit more here.
