26th April news

Perth Thursday

Second day of the annual Perth Festival, and it's still a bit chilly. Not much rain around though, advance going is on the fast side of good to soft.

Bollin Matilda runs in the opening race a 2 mile mares only novice hurdle. This is her 3rd outing over jumps and hopefully this will see our home bred filly gain a handicap mark, whic should set her up nicely for a more competitive autumn campaign.

The 3rd last day of the season is not really the time to lose a maiden tag and all but 3 of the 12 strong field fall into this category. Which probably leaves it to a fight out between Magical Maggie, Poetic Music and Midnight Shuffle.
A Listed bumper winner last season, Poetic Music has been busy this season as she has won twice and also been placed in a Listed hurdle. She will find life easier here than when competing at the Cheltenham Festival last time.

Best of luck to the man in the saddle for us - Henry Brooke.

Onto the 4.05, a Class 3 3m 2f handicap hurdle.
Shoeshine Boy (Craig Nichol) takes his chance here following his game win at Musselburgh recently. This is a step up in grade for our gelding - he is actually 1lb out of the weights.
But he's fit and raring to go although he might just be caught for toe turning for home for the final time in this company.

Anyway 7 runners, best of luck to Craig and the Mousetrap Racing crew.
