Eden Mill in Sedgefield bumper (Friday)
There are two or three in the bumper at Sedgefield (3.25pm) with solid NH Flat form plus an interesting recruit from the Irish Point-to-Point field to face Eden Mill on Friday. Advance going is good to soft.
Although McCain has a horse on debut (Theo Gillard is jocked up) but
Brian Hughes is reunited with Longsdon's Stroll On By who was beaten by
the minimum distance on debut. That form is quite good but probably
nothing special at this stage.
This will be Adelphi Sprite's fourth bumper outing and his 3 previous
runs have been consistent but more would be needed to win here.
Summergrounds was runner-up in a Kelso bumper in May and the winner has upheld his quite useful form next time. He stands out as the best bumper horse on this evidence.
Couple of Irish Point recruits. The Questioner recorded a 2nd place
in his sole outing but the form of subsequent runners is below average.
However the one to watch here is Grove Road. Just one single 3rd place in a
Point but two of the field have won novice hurdles since and the 4th
horse won a Point next time.
Now trained by Flat-trainer Archie Watson who has won a bumper with
another horse for Grove Road's owners (Hambleton Racing) this season.
Others would appear to need more time.
Rob Bewley & Jimmy Fyffe's Leading Light gelding
Eden Mill spoiled his chance by jinking left at half way in his Musselburgh bumper at the
end of October. But he's been working very well in recent weeks and will
have benefitted from that experience (he wasn't beaten far in 4th).
Callum Bewley is in the saddle and good luck to connections.
