Stolen Money follows up at Haydock
Stolen Money wouldn't be the fastest horse in the yard on the morning gallops so it's been hard to gauge at home if he has improved or not since his last run.
But, by golly, has he improved!
Ridden by Theo Gillard in this Conditional Jockey's 3 mile handicap hurdle at Haydock yesterday, he was prominent throughout. Despite fiddling a couple and completely flattening 4 out, Stolen Money was travelling ominously well in the rain sodden heavy ground. He took it up from the long time leader Lady Bowes approaching 3 out and quickly went clear. Staying on well on the run-in, the gelding won this by 5 lengths with a bit in hand at the line.
Where next?
Stable advisors (sic) in the winner's enclosure were urging Donald to go chasing but when he's in such progressive form over hurdles, the prospect of a hat-trick of wins is very enticing. Clearly well suited by 3 miles and heavy ground, the handicapper will no doubt have his say on Tuesday but in the meantime this victory can be savoured by all at Dodlands.
A fine end to the year!!
Alan leads in Stolen Money with Theo Gillard
Later on in the card after another 3 hours of heavy rain, the conditions
were very, very testing So
Many Roads ran a bit better than it may have seemed in finishing 5th
in the bumper.
He ran well for a long way until weakening 2 furlongs from home. He is
still far from the finished article but we wanted to give him this run
before he has a quieter spell in the yard while he strengthens and
matures.
Look for him to re-appear in the Spring over hurdles.
Happy New Year - from all at Dodlands
A nice way to end the year, and we wish everyone All The Best for 2022.
Keep safe.
