Couple of runners at Sedgefield on Boxing Day

Seasons greetings to all our readers!!

Fantastic day of racing throughout the country and the mild weather ensures plenty of action will ensue.
An early start and late finish for the yard as we've two runners at Sedgefield today, one in the first and one in the last.

Side of the Road runs in the opener at 11.55, a 2m 4f handicap hurdle and we're looking for the well-bred mare to show a bit of improvement on her first run of the season at Ayr last month. Her form to date wouldn't give any encouragement of her being competitive today however, but we'll see how she goes.

Perhaps Danced Every Dance will fare better in the bumper which closes the card.

National Hunt Flat races are fascinating events on any race card more so mares only races such as this, as there can be widening gaps between the finishers as factors such as race experience and maturity come to the fore.

Top of the runners in experience terms are Kirby's Dares to Dream (2nd last time to a subsequent listed winner) and McCain's ex Irish winning pointer Takingitallin. These two look like the ones to beat, but there are always dangerous sorts hidden away amongst the (possible) improvers and debutants.
Daughters of former trainer Ken Morgan - Laura and Kelly - have each introduced bumper winning mares on debut under Rules and Heads Up Clemmie has a flat orientated pedigree and cannot be discounted first time up for Laura and Miss Tabitha Worsley.

Likewise, Scobie's debutant Wee Tiger Tots is a half-sister to several winners, out of a winning dam. Bruce Lynn is in the saddle for a type - on pedigree - from the yard that would be expected to go close.

Another well bred mare in this race is Midnight Glen, a full sister the fairly useful chaser / hurdler Midnight Cowboy who raced for Alan King and is also a half sister to several other winners. Interestingly thought good enough to tackle listed company on debut and although well beaten that time will surely find this a more enticing proposition.

This is the race that our own Eternally Yours won last year and while we maybe don't think Danced Every Dance is as quite as good as that mare at the moment, given her recent work at home we hope our mare can maybe just run into a place. In any case, this is one more step in her development of racing experience.

Callum takes both rides and good luck to all connections.
