Big Bad Dream placed at Kelso yesterday

Big Bad Dream put a below par effort last time at Ayr behind him, when staying on well into third place yesterday at Kelso.

Better ground (ground to soft), drop back to 2 miles and improved fitness.......well, take your pick.

On his second run over hurdles, Callum jumped the gelding off near the pace but he was a touch careful over the first couple of flights, so he dropped back into the chasing pack. The experienced West Coast Lass had set off in front and was the clear leader for most of the way. Approaching 2 out, the eventual winner Romeo Brown began an effort to close in on the mare, and several other challengers were in pursuit, including Big Bad Dream.

Callum had been riding our gelding down the back straight, and from 2 out he really started to pick up the bit and make progress. Jumping the last half a dozen lengths down, Big Bad Dream stayed on nicely to the finish, just failing to catch West Coast Lass by a neck on the line for an excellent 3rd place.

We've mentioned before that he is a really stuffy sort at home, and he is the type to improve further for more racing - exciting times ahead.
