Our National Hunt season starts at Kelso tomorrow
We're not renowned for winners before Christmas but you gotta start somewhere............
So we kick off our Jumps Season tomorrow, with hurdler
Night Comes In tackling
2 miles in Division 2 of the novice hurdle.
The potentially high class Some Reign from Rose's yard is the clear
standout on hurdling form, and probably the best of the bunch on bumper
form too. A handful of the prominent Northern National Hunt trainers are
represented here, but out of these promising sorts only McCain's Flemens
Story has a traditional jumping pedigree or Irish Point form (he has
both).
That's not to say that the likes of Cool Mix, Fernan, Vino's Choice and
Treshnish have not shown ability to date. Each has eye-catching winning
or placed form in bumpers as their flat pedigree would hint at, and
it'll be interesting to see how this quartet cope with a flight of
hurdles or eight.
And Night Comes In? We think a wee bit of the 5 year old gelding, but he might just be run off his feet tomorrow (advance going is good), and will no doubt need the race in fitness terms.
We've been working overtime this week behind the scenes to get the
lease agreement paperwork sorted with the BHA/Weatherbys. It may not be
through in time, but anyway the lads of Denholm Park Racing will be
present to view their horse for the season.
Enjoy the day gentlemen, fingers crossed for a completed run.
