If Musselburgh goes ahead......
....then we'll have a couple of runners at the East Coast venue, where there is light snow and an 8am inspection.
Considerably more snow than that around Dodlands Steading this week, but the roads are now clear for the short-ish journey up the coast. A couple of runners towards the end of the card which means we'll know if it's on before setting off. What planning!!
Night Comes In has
yet to realise the potential of his two runs last season and
steps into handicap company for the first time. He'll also tackle 3
miles for the first time too. The main reason for targeting Musselburgh
was to seek a sounder surface, but it's been pretty wet most of the last
few days and the advance going is soft - a rarity for this racecourse.
Anyway, we feel he has been handicapped on his best run in a novice
hurdle at Perth in April, and this season's outing have not approached
that level. We hope he can give his best in this race, but would rate
his chances as an outsider at best, and would recommend a watching brief
as far as having a bet is concerned.
Night Comes In (Kingy, orange bib)
It's not often Dodlands Steading is able to brag about the form of our
bumper horses but the figures don't lie, do they? Our 3 horses to
compete in NH
Flat races this season show form returns of 24121.
Danced Every Dance,
a well-bred daughter of Oscar, makes her debut in the finale (2m bumper)
where she is one of 3 newcomers (all mares) tackling 7 geldings with
previous experience.
Like Night Comes In, we think our mare would have appreciated good
ground but she's ready to run so we'll take our chance today and look
for her to come on from the race. None of our two bumper winners this
season have won first time out, so this mare does face a stiff task
against 3 previous winners and 4 more likely to improve upon their
initial runs.
Good luck to wee Davie and the lads of Denholm Park Racing, safe journey and enjoy A Day At The Races - beats working, don't it?
