14th January news

Runners at Ayr tomorrow (Monday)

The cold weather is closing in on us again mid-week, but Ayr's 2-day meeting may just escape - well, certainly Monday is looking promising but it may be wet and wild on Tuesday where we'd look to run Side of the Road.

Baby Ticker tries again in the 2m mares' handicap hurdle at 1.45. She has been raised a massive 8lb (to OR107) for finishing runner up at Newcastle last time. Such a rise in the ratings for a 9 year old maiden hurdler is difficult to comprehend.....she is set to receive just 1 lb from Beyondtemptation who is the winner of 12 races. John Quinn's recent Catterick scorer Raised On Grazeon will no doubt head the market, and GNWTLR's progressive Miss Tiggy will be a tough nut to crack , and you could make a case for the other three too. Our mare is fit and well, but this is a competitive race.

Baby Sister (Murray) leads Night Comes In (Kingy), Side of the Road (Pinky) and Dali Mail (Callum)

Later on in the card is the unpredictable Tomahawk Wood. The gelding is a course and distance winner (in fact, this race last year), is on a winning mark and has also been going well at home. However, as you can see from the formbook, his best form has been produced sporadically over the last couple of seasons. He is certainly capable of winning a 2m 4f handicap hurdle such as this, but.........

Callum will be in the saddle for both horses as usual, good luck to all!!
