Paper Promise runs in the bumper at Wetherby
Bit of a let down yesterday at Carlisle when
Big Bad Dream pulled out
unsound in the morning and we had to scratch from the bumper. That's about the 5th occasion
where the gelding has not met his intended entry - either he's had a bruised foot or the meeting has been abandoned.
It's a shame as he's well suited by testing conditions, and we hope it's
not too long a recovery - a minor leg infection was the diagnosis.
So, off we head down the A1 to Wetherby today with our recent Musselburgh scorer Paper Promise looking to follow up that NH Flat win in the last - a Mares Only bumper.
Olly Murphy's likely favourite Its O Kay hails from a family full of
bumper winners and would be expected to progress from her 4th at
Doncaster last month (started favourite). She receives 7lb from our
mare.
Previous scored Maebh won a juvenile bumper last year at this venue over
12f, but has a pedigree packed with stamina so the extra ½ mile should
not pose any problems. She carries a winner's penalty of 7lb but
receives the 4 year old allowance of 9lb.
The remaining trio that have ran once before would need to improve a
great deal to be involved in the finish here, and the unraced
Mastercraftsman filly Miss Hamda has several classy relatives (over ~1
mile) on the flat but may not stay the 2 miles on heavy ground here.
Paper Promise handled soft conditions well at Musselburgh at the turn of the year but she has to give weight all round to her 6 rivals. She's a tough sort, and is very well at home so goes with a real chance of running a competitive race.
Good luck to Ron & Eileen, Ian and Wee Davie!!
