Kick off the week at Ayr tomorrow.......hopefully

Ayr hinges on a 9 am inspection tomorrow, and by that time we'll be well on the road as Night Comes In runs in the opener, the novice hurdle over 2m 4f plus change. It's hoped the Definite Article gelding can put a poor first run of the season behind him and show a bit of promise for the future. This is his third run in a novice hurdle, and we're looking for a nice completed run to qualify for a handicap mark.

Big Bad Dream has improved tremendously in looks over the summer, and he was a workmanlike sort last season to start off with. He makes his third appearance tomorrow in the bumper which concludes the card. His second run in a bumper was nowhere near as good as his debut on heavy ground at Ayr last January where he finished in 3rd place behind Ellison's smart Sam's Adventure.
Ewart runs a couple of likely sorts on pedigree - both unraced - whilst our regular adversary Stuart Crawford brings Drumnagreagh from across the Irish Sea. If our gelding can recapture his debut form, he can go close.

It was a bit of a blow to lose two Scottish meetings in the space of two days with the cold weather taking out Kelso and Musselburgh. Shades of Midnight was our intended Kelso runner, and he's been entered for the 3m Grade 2 novice chase at Doncaster on Saturday, although there's the option of a beginners chase at Catterick the following Tuesday.
Another horse with a weekend entry is Paper Promise in the bumper at Carlisle on Sunday, and she looks the type to be suited by testing conditions.

But, before that, the stable has entries all over the shop at Newcastle on Thursday. Tomorrow's brace are entered in similar races just in case Ayr is off, and Danced Every Dance (aka 'Reeva') also holds an entry in the bumper. This would be the 4yr old Oscar filly's debut.  Tomahawk Wood is in the 2½ mile handicap hurdle and having missed Musselburgh, Baby Ticker is in the Class 5 handicap hurdle over 2m ½f.

With a rise in temperatures likely come Wednesday, Newcastle may be the best bet for the next meeting on in the North. We're itching to get cracking with some nice horses who've been working well, so................
