Keyboard Gangster makes handicap debut at Kelso tomorrow

Although still officially a novice, we make the jump into a Class 2 handicap with Keyboard Gangster at Kelso tomorrow over 2 miles. He'll have the heavy ground in his favour but does face some experienced hurdlers.

A quick look at the form of Keyboard Gangster will show that he has his quirks, and he wasn't suited by the small field and open spaces of Haydock last time. Hence, our idea of running in handicap company was to seek a race where horses will go forward right from the off, although it's a wee bit hard to see where that pace is coming from tomorrow, with no real obvious front runners. Keyboard Gangster will also be equipped with a hood for the first time, and some earplugs too.
We think a lot of the gelding, and the problem is that he is a perfect ride at home with those idiosyncrasies only surfacing on the racecourse.

In opposition, Ellison's Nietzsche stands out as a hurdler with a touch of class, down in grade, goes well on soft but not really proven in heavy. At the other end of the scale, Keith's Taxmeifyoucan is a useful stayer on the flat and won a novice here from Sam's Gunner who then won a Grade 3 handicap hurdle at Sandown next time. On that form, he could be thrown in on OR130, and gets a 6lb 4yr old allowance.

So, lets hold our breath, cross fingers and see how Keyboard Gangster goes. You know with a 'clean' round, he would have every chance.
