10th November news

Snapping Turtle runs at Newcastle tomorrow

Trying to comprehend the implications of this weeks events in the U S of A might easily fill one with a mixture of apprehension and horror.

Will the President Elect's campaign policies go global?

I mean, we will load up the horsebox (aka 'the van') with Snapping Turtle tomorrow morning, and set off down the back road to meet the A1 to Newcastle just shy of the Border. But will we be met by a wall, under construction by Mexicans?
And as for the relaxing news from the State of California ..............well.

All of which is a million miles away (well, a few thousand anyway) from the Class 4 3m handicap hurdle at Newcastle tomorrow. Snapping Turtle's form certainly dipped a bit in his last few runs last season, but on the plus side he's back on a handicap mark (OR96) which should see him competitive at least.

That is should he still retain enthusiasm for racing, at 11yrs of age.

'Bruce' is certainly enjoying life in the stable these last few months, acting as lead horse for the band of unraced youngsters on the gallops. He seems as fresh as a daisy each morning, to the delight of all.
You know, we'd be very happy for a 'lead horse' role for the veteran gelding if things don't pan out for him on the track, but we'll give him a couple of chances and see how he takes it.
Any further rain at Newcastle would be of benefit, not that our lad needs it testing but a few of the horses in the race are suited by a sound surface, and rain might just blunt the speed of the race.

Go on and enjoy yourself Bruce!!
