A little brightness......'Cliff' placed at Ayr on debut

The downs and ups of racing.

It may have been a 3rd place on debut, but Big Bad Dream put a hint of a smile back on the face of The Trainer.

The race favourite was dual bumper winner Sam's Adventure, whose level of form to date would be good enough to be placed in the Festival bumper. A couple of others had also shown impressive form on the track, while racecourse whispers abounded about a few more.

Our gelding, looking strong and scopey in the paddock, was settled nicely on the way to the start by Callum, and as it were so in the race itself, being held up off the pace. He can be a bit lazy at times at home but travelled well in the race, and made good headway down the back straight as the race started in earnest. Callum brought 'Cliff' through a wall of horses on the home turn, and the gelding didn't bat an eyelid as he came to challenge with every chance 2f out. Sam's Adventure (winner) and second placed Mcgowan's Pass had first run though, but Big Bad Dream kept on nicely to finish 3rd, four lengths clear of Lacey's Storm Nelson in 4th.

Very promising debut run from the 5 yr old, who has the make and shape of a gelding who will progress.
