Report and photos from Kelso, Thursday
Paper Roses ran a fine race in her novices' hurdle. Her jumping was vastly improved and she travelled well, held up in touch. While the testing conditions were not to the liking of this athletic mare, it was very pleasing to see her battle on to the line, to finish a close up 3rd.
She should now be given a handicap mark, and that will give rise to plenty of opportunities over the coming months into the spring.

Hartforth didn't fare quite as
well as Paper Roses in his race, the staying handicap hurdle. He was
prominent throughout the race, until outpaced 3 out, and after that he
was never really in touch with the leaders. He finished 6th of 7.
He is on a career high mark, and looks to be in the grip of the
handicapper at present.
