Kelso review

Hartforth ran and jumped quite well, but found the pace a little bit quick, but kept on to finish in 6th place. He looks as if he could do with being dropped a couple of pounds or so in the handicap as he is running off OR118, with his highest winning mark OR115. The 9 yr old Haafhd gelding has won 5 races and been placed over a dozen times since joining the yard 4 years ago, and although he is well and truly exposed in handicap terms, given favourable conditions and mark he shapes as if he can still be competitive.

Tomahawk Wood was running at a distance slightly short of his best, and travelled well until a mistake 5 from home almost brought him to a standstill. He finished 8th, well beaten but he seems to be showing signs of a return to form. We'll keep him going for another few weeks if he shows no ill effects from this race.
