10th April news

Couple of runners at Kelso today

Just a short journey across the countryside to Kelso, where Hartforth and Tomahawk Wood run in the handicap hurdles which open and close the Monday afternoon card.

Hartforth has not been at his best in his last two runs and this may well be his last race of the season. The race is a qualifier for the Northern Lights series with the finals at Carlisle in December, and by running Hartforth completes the necessary criteria. This is a wide open race, with most of the runners holding a good chance on their best form.

Tomahawk Wood is a horse thought highly of here at Dodlands, but didn't run well last time and had been a bit off colour.  Distance and ground are both elements which Tomahawk Wood has not encountered for some time, so we're looking for our gelding to show his well being here.
Like the first, this handicap is very competitive with Rose's Lyvious, Nicky the A's Benny's Secret and Malcolm's Sweet Holly all possibles.
