Dumbarton so close in third
Dumbarton travelled so well
for most of the race at Hexham last Sunday, only to weaken slightly up
the hill after (the omitted) 2 out. But he kept on gamely all the way to
the line, just being pipped for second place.
A fine run, and he was sound when led out of his box the next day. With
horses that have been rested after a sustaining a leg strain, it's
always more of a worry the next day, as we check for any signs of
soreness in his legs. But, thus far, he's in good health.
Dumbarton probably prefers a sound surface, but we'd like to keep him racing with a bit of give in the ground, so we'll look around for another mid distance handicap hurdle in the next 3-4 weeks.
