Racing at Carlisle yesterday
Snapping Turtle ran a fine race on his chasing debut yesterday at Carlisle. Tackling a trip of 2 miles for the first time over jumps, our gelding was naturally enough tapped for toe 4 out but stayed on in pleasing fashion to take 3rd place on the run-in.
He jumped well enough in the main, his only blemish came when Jet Master
fell and distracted Snapping Turtle into a slight peck on landing.
He is clearly suited by heavy conditions, and as long as the handicapper
does interpret the form literally we will be looking for a handicap
chase next up.
