Stepping up work
This is more like it!
With the passing weeks of September, just about all of the string for this season are back in the yard. Ellinstrin Belle, a lovely unraced Helissio filly, and Charlie Whillans' stalwart handicapper Bollin Fiona were the latest to arrive at Dodlands after a spell at grass.
Those earlier arrivals are now in full swing in morning exercise, and have now progressed to a couple of pieces of work on the 'Up the Middle' gallop. In this category are Mini the Minx, Leith Walk, Snapping Turtle, King Kalium, Shadow Boxer and Yinfortheroad.

Several others are coming along nicely as well, just doing the one morning spin at present.
Several of our young stock in this bracket are delighting us and a
young, robust Winged Love filly taking pride of place at present. Lots
of credit to our senior lad Ryan Nichol who has been working hard during
the summer on the education of a couple of youngster, including this
filly.
During the course of next week, joining the morning gallopers will be Mia Matriarch, Nodda High Kid, Charlie Bucket and an unraced Courteous geldiing.
Potassium Partnership
It was a pleasure to welcome again a strong contingent from the
Potassium Partnership to Dodlands Steading this morning. King Kalium
worked a couple of times on the woodchip.
We hope the patience shown by the partnership can bring some reward this
season with King Kalium. This strapping son of Kayf Tara is only rated
64 at present, which presents its own problems in finding a suitable
race - but not to worry we'll find something suitable in the next 4-5 weeks.
Also on view was King Kalium's half sister by Helissio, who is in training at Dodlands, having just arrived back from summer grass this week, and looking very well for the break, strengthening up considerably. She was here in the spring, and was showing up well on the gallops working upsides her stable-mates. Named Ellistrin Belle by owner Ron and Eileen Smith, who are also members of the Potassium Partnership, she'll be aimed at a bumper in the second half of the season.
