Chances at Newcastle today
Newcastle's Fighting Fifth meeting has passed a late inspection, and we've got a couple in with chances in their respective chases. Incidentally, there are 2 fences omitted per circuit fences three (frost) & seven (waterlogging) - I guess the Big Man up there has covered all his bases covered with that one.
Shadow Boxer returns to the
venue where he has run his best races - he won on his chasing debut in
January this year over 2m 4f. Today's trip is ½ mile further and,
well, there's the rub.....
Still, he's in good heart and there isn't much racing in the north over
the next week or so, and we'll take our chances here.
On the other hand, Snapping Turtle steps up in trip from his chasing debut at Carlisle a few week back when tackling 9 opponents on his chasing handicap debut over 2½m. Being by Turtle Island, our gelding has always appreciated soft ground so we think he has a good chance here.
Maybe a small stakes e.w. double?
Snapping Turtle - fingers crossed at Newcastle today
