The family
The Hardest Geezer is the second foal out of the unraced broodmare Lis
Goold. Her first born is Ballard Prince who has run a few times
under Rules and been placed in Pt-to-Pts.
The second dam, Irish Point winner Bealaha Essie, has bred 3 winners
from just 5 runners.
The best of these has been the high class West Yorkshire Hurdle
winner Kilcooley but Grade 2 placed winning hurdler/chaser Ballydine
and dual winning chaser Clondaw Flicka (for Lucinda) were no
slouches either.
Digging deeper, 80s Dawn Run Novice Chase winner Aughanvilla can be found in the family.
Lis Goold also has a 2021 born filly by Blue Bresil, and a 2022 filly by Affinisea who she visited again in 2023.
About the sire
Malinas (b h born 2001) was trained in Germany by Arc-winning trainer Peter Schiergen where he showed high class form at 3 and 4 years of age. He was very consistent, with best performances in winning a Group 2 race before running Shirocco to a close 2nd in the German Derby.
Retired to stud in 2008, Malinas stood initially for 3 seasons in France
at Haras de la Hetraie before moving to Yorton Farm in England
where he proved a popular sire to NH breeders for 4 seasons.
In 2016, he moved to Glenview Stud before re-locating once more to
current home at Coolagown Stud in 2022.
Sire of over 100 jumps winners, his best progeny are the
Grade 1 Chase winner Master McShee, Grade 2 winning hurdler Medinas, Grade 2 winning chaser Black Thunder
and Grade 3 winner Malystic.
Season 2023-24 outlook
The well-bred Malinas gelding
"Cormac" was an acquisition at the Spring NH Goffs UK Store sale in May
2022, as an unbroken 3 year old.
He was sent along to Nick Orpwood
shortly afterwards and during the 2022-23 campaign
spent a few weeks in and out of training to aid the furnishing of
his frame and mental strength.
We decided not to rush him into a late season bumper but will be
looking to kick start this 4-yr-old's career with a bumper appearance in the
Autumn.
The Hardest Geezer is a lovely, athletic gelding standing at over 16.1hh. All in all, a super exciting horse.
Update mid November - The Hardest Geezer was sold at Tattersalls
Cheltenham November sale and
realised £90,000. Acquired by Gwent Holdings (who have several
horses in training with Christian Williams).
We wish new connections best of luck.
