Weekend round-up

Wor Lass finished down the field in her 2m handicap race at Newcastle on Friday. She travelled really well for most of the race, but was unable to follow the pace when the leaders quickened 2 furlongs from home.
We'll look around for a race on grass for her next outing, and if she was dropped a pound or three by the handicapper that wouldn't go amiss either!

There are a couple of horses acquired in Ireland in August that are being educated by local horseman Gary Rutherford, and the latest report is that they are now in steady work. That's been quite quick really - around 5 weeks - and they'll be brought into the yard soon. Both horses will be given a few months off after an initial 3-4 weeks in morning exercise, and may make an appearance at the back-end of the season.

So, apart from the above two (soon to be) newcomers to the yard, all of the winter horses have completed their pre-season roadwork, and from tomorrow all the string will be on the gallops.
The weekend contained sunny spells as a change from the norm, and hence the quality of the photos is better and it was warm enough for a group of TSMGWs to stay on the hill to watch more than one lot!
First runner of the season may still be about 4 or 5 weeks away, and the more forward of the string at this stage are Paper Promise, Side of the Road and Night Comes In but as there are many stones to stand upon (lol), more concrete plans will be made mid October.
