Pallas Lord runs at Musselburgh
Back to the flat for Dodlands today where Pallas Lord runs at Musselburgh, in the 7f handicap at 3.35 with PJ McDonald in the saddle.
He's more suited these days to 10f at Newcastle on the AW but a couple of races beforehand should set him up nicely for a December - February campaign.
Pallas Lord (Rhae)
Very fine season opener from Shoeshine Boy on Saturday
He's not previous shown his best form this early in the season, but Shoeshine Boy ran a very fine race at Hexham on Saturday when 2nd, going down by a narrow margin to Our Sam who was completing a hat-trick.
Craig settled in headed the main group some 20-25 lengths off the clear leader (one of the non stayers) but that group made good headway to close the gap down the back straight for the second time. Shoeshine Boy jumped into the lead 2 out where his main pursuer was the eventual winner Our Sam (Moffat/Charlotte combo) who made his race sharpness from summer hurdling tell on the run-in. Our lad kept on well though, so maybe we should re-assess our pre-season opinion of him as 'quietly progressive' as this was a clear personal best by some margin.
A Class 3 event, it would be dangerous to take a too literal reading of
the form (BHA handicapper please note) as although there was 30 odd
lengths back to the remainder of the 5 runner field, on the day those
beaten were types who were unsuited by ground, non stayers, out of sorts
or a combination of all three.
So, we'll see how he's re-assessed and take it from there.
