29th November news

Kelso Wednesday - 3 runners, fingers crossed......

A trio of Dodlands hopefuls may head along the road to Kelso Racecourse, which must survive a 7:30am inspection. Overnight snow/sleet showers with temperatures hovering around freezing.
Much like life itself, we reckon odds for racing to go ahead to be 6-5 against.

Anyway, here's a (probably shorter than on some occasions) racing preview from Dodlandswise.

As we've mentioned a few times before he has run, Eden Mill has been pleasing his work rider in recent days. It's converting that ability to a win on the racecourse that has yet to come to fruition, but racing off an OR79, he continues to be given every chance.

The Moffat/Charlotte combo ran out impressive winners last time when Secret Secret won over c&d a couple of weeks ago. Clearly the one we have to beat here.

But Eden Mill is modestly progressive, and Craig rides so we're hopeful of a placing. Good luck to the TD9 Racing clan.

A 5lb swing in the official ratings for a 16 length defeat last time by Lucinda's Jem In Em doesn't exactly scream a good opportunity. But that is the task facing Nights In Venice. With Henry at Wetherby and Craig opting to ride our neighbour Paul Robson's progressive hurdler Haveyougotmymoney, connections are delighted to be able to book Brian Hughes to ride.

But Jem In Em is also progressive so it may be hard to topple that pair.

Anyway, good luck to connections, who race in a new name and colours for the first time. Safe driving.

Maybe our best chance of success lies with Enemy At The Gate who reverts to a more suitable trip (you'd have to think....) after a promising first run of the season last time at Carlisle over 2m 1f. Another Dodlands' ride for last season's champion jockey Brian Hughes.

The obvious one here is the progressive-since-wind-op Call Me Harry from Scobie's Hetland Hill yard down near Dumfries. A winner last time. Very good form in bumpers too.
Kinneston Nick's Beat The Retreat is also open to improvement and comes into the reckoning.
